Steve McGarry
"The World's Top Cartoonist"
Steve McGarry is one of the most prolific and widely-published cartoonists and illustrators that Britain has ever produced, racking up an astonishing array of credits across multiple fields.
Beginning his career as a punk art pioneer in the late 1970s, Steve designed 18 record sleeves in just two years — his work for Joy Division was later displayed at MoMA in New York. He went on to create daily comic strips for UK national newspapers such as The Sun, The Daily Star and Today. When The Sunday People launched his "20th Century Heroes" series in the 1990s, they hailed him as “the world’s top cartoonist."
A groundbreaking soccer artist, Steve has had his own weekly series in British magazines including Match, Match of the Day, and Shoot!, while his World Cup and Euros features have appeared in newspapers across more than 100 countries since 1982.
Steve is the author of over a dozen books, including two collections of his “Badlands” comic strip, eight titles in his "Trivquiz" series, and a biography of Sean Connery.
